? Save Baby Gaarvik: A Heart Full of Hope ?

Meet Baby Gaarvik, a little fighter with a big challenge. Shortly after his birth, Gaarvik was diagnosed with a serious congenital heart disease called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). Though his birth was normal, a mild cold quickly turned into a series of urgent medical concerns. Despite the initial hope that his symptoms were just seasonal, Gaarvik’s condition soon became more alarming. He would turn blue while crying, and his parents endured sleepless nights, desperately trying to understand what was wrong. Their worst fears were confirmed when doctors found a critical hole in his heart. The gravity of the situation crushed their spirits and left them feeling hopeless.

As Gaarvik was passed from one hospital to another, the primary concern remained his inability to gain weight. The doctors emphasized the importance of addressing this issue, yet the family faced mounting difficulties as they struggled to find a concrete solution. The long wait for an appointment at AIIMS further compounded their distress, making them feel lost and frustrated.

In a moment of desperation, a compassionate individual suggested reaching out to NGOs that support children in need. That’s how they discovered the Child Heart Foundation (CHF). With a glimmer of hope, they contacted CHF, and an appointment was quickly arranged with Dr. Vikas Kohli.

Dr. Kohli provided guidance and prescribed medication to help Baby Gaarvik gain weight. However, the real turning point came when he recommended a Cardiac Cath procedure followed by VSD closure. The estimated cost for this critical surgery is Rs 4,00,000, a burden the family cannot bear alone given their other financial responsibilities.

Baby Gaarvik has been registered under the Hridaan project, and the cardiac catheterization procedure was successfully completed on January 20, 2024. Now, he urgently needs the VSD closure surgery to lead a normal life.
