Rudraksh, a four-year-old from Uttarakhand, was diagnosed with VSD when he was six months old. When his parents took him for a regular checkup, the Pediatrician observed that his heartbeat was abnormal and ordered an echo. It was then found that he had a small hole in his heart. In the hopes of avoiding surgery and that the defect would lessen as their son grew up, the parents decided to wait till he was older. Nevertheless, little Rudraksh did not get better. He would sweat profusely whenever he was playing with his toys. They went for regular checkups, but his situation did not get better.
Finally, they came to Dr. Vikas Kohli who advised them to a VSD closure surgery as any further delay might be fatal for their child. Dr. Vikas Kohli graciously helped them to register with CHF and has been strong support for them throughout this journey.Given the severity of his illness, Dr. Vikas Kohli encouraged the Fundraising team to gather his funds as soon as possible so that his life-saving surgery could be done immediately.
Within 1 month of hard effort, Rudraksh's funds were raised, and his parents were advised to prepare for the operation. Dr. Vikas Kohli counselled worried parents and assured them that Kabir will be safe and get better after the surgery.
He had his successful surgery, and his parents were reassured following a post-surgery check-up that Rudraksh is doing well and in good health.
His parents expressed their gratitude to Dr. Vikas Kohli and the Child Heart Foundation staff for their unwavering support.
