Sagar Debnath, a 13-year-old boy from Siliguri, Assam, had been suffering from breathing difficulties and fatigue since the age of four. His family was deeply worried and finally took him to a local doctor, who diagnosed him with a heart condition. However, his father's meager income of Rs. 3000 per month made the prospect of the expensive surgery seem impossible.
Sagar's parents were nearly resigned to their son's fate when, in 2019, a relative informed them about Child Heart Foundation and Dr. Vikas Kohli. After performing an echo, Dr. Kohli diagnosed Sagar with ASD, and the surgery needed was ASD Closure, which would cost an estimated Rs. 2,50,000/-. Despite the family's ongoing struggles to raise the necessary funds, CHF registered Sagar for financial assistance.
However, just as the fundraising process was underway, the pandemic struck, and Sagar's condition deteriorated. Time was of the essence, and the delays only added to the family's anxiety. But the CHF team didn't give up on Sagar, and with the help of their supporters, they were able to raise the funds needed for the surgery.
Finally, after years of struggle, Sagar received the treatment he so desperately needed. Thanks to the efforts of the CHF team and their supporters, Sagar's ASD was successfully closed, and he can now breathe easily and play with his friends without experiencing any discomfort. His family is overjoyed, and they are immensely grateful to everyone who helped them along the way.
Sagar's story is an inspiration to us all. Despite facing immense challenges, he never lost hope, and his family never stopped fighting for him. Thanks to their determination and the kindness of others, Sagar's life has been forever changed for the better.
