My name is Ritik. I was born in Imliya, Mahoda, Uttar Pradesh. When I was just 2 months old, I got a severe cold and cough. My parents approached a local doctor and I was given some medicines, but unfortunately that did not improve my condition. Then, they went to another hospital and the doctor there told my parents that I had a hole in my heart. After hearing this, my parents were shattered because my father works as a labourer in fields on daily wages and my mother works as a maid. Financially, they were not in a position to get my surgery done. So, my mother and I came to Delhi, all alone to a new, unknown place, because my father had to work in fields to meet our expenses in Delhi. We visited 2-3 government hospitals but all in vain, as there was a long waiting period and we were required to make multiple visits. It was not possible for us to travel so frequently. Then, my mother got a ray of hope when some relative told her about Child Heart Foundation. We approached Child Heart Foundation and there, we met Dr. Vikas Kohli. He diagnosed me and it was found out that I had Tetralogy Of Fallot. My intervention included TOF Repair and the estimated cost of the surgery was Rs. 4,00,000. Seeing our financial condition, I was enrolled in Child Heart Foundation’s Hridaan program. Despite my lung infection, I got my surgery done successfully on 08/07/2021 with financial help from the Rotary Club of Delhi, South, and Child Heart Foundation. Now I am getting healthier day by day.
