Golu Kumar aged 6 years 8 months is from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. When he was just 8 months old he lost his father. The emotional trauma was soon followed by financial problems that rendered everyone in his family helpless and worried. Their situation deteriorated further when Golu’s health became a matter of concern. It started with a normal fever and cold for which the family consulted a doctor in their hometown. His mother, Rubi Devi, who was already finding it difficult to come to terms with her husband’s death, was devastated when she found out about Golu’s heart problem. He had a breathing problem which made his family extremely anxious. In 2018, his uncle took him to Patna for treatment and after the procedure, it was discovered that he had Congenital Heart Disease. For the surgery, they needed to raise Rs. 3,00,000 – 4,00,000. This was again a fatal blow to his family, especially his mother who wasn’t in a condition to relive the pain of losing another family member. Vikram, Golu’s uncle, contacted Dr. Sharda and explained to him the dilemma the family was dealing with. Since he had worked for him, and the situation was critical, he immediately told them about Dr. Vikas Kohli and Child Heart Foundation. Golu, along with his family soon visited the CHF centre. Dr. Kohli then diagnosed him and it was found out that he had Large ASD and his intervention included ASD closure on a priority basis. Seeing their financial condition he immediately got registered in CHILD HEART FOUNDATION under the Hridaan program. With the financial help from the Rotary Club of Delhi, South, and Child Heart Foundation, he got his surgery done successfully on 24/07/2021. Now, he can live his life happily like other children of his age.
